It was hard to find documentation that Sallie is a child of Peter and Laura. She is listed on several other genealogies as being so. Documentation comes in an unlikely form in the 1940 Census for Walter and Lemma Barnett. Living with them in this year are Laura Thurman (listed as mother-in-law) and Julia McGuffin (niece). Julia is the child of Sallie Berry. Therefore, Julia is living with her aunt, Lemma Barnett, who is Sallie Berry’s sister. Also in the house is Laura Thurman who is Lemma’s mother. So, if Julia is Lemma’s neice, then Sallie Berry is Lemma Barnett’s sister and Laura is Julia’s grandmother and Sallie’s mother.
