Notes for Emily Peterson
Obituary True Republican, 18 October 1957

Graveside services are to be held in Sycamore at the Peter Peterson family lot in the Elmwood cemetery late this Friday afternoon for Mrs. Charles Stroberg, 83, former well known local resident, who passed away Wednesday at a nursing home in Omaha, Neb., following a long illness. Mrs. Stroberg suffered a severe stroke several years ago and had since been in ill health. For a number of years she had made her home in Omaha with her younger daughter, Mrs. Lillian Hammond. Her body was taken to the Skoglund Funeral Home in Geneva, where final rites are being accorded this afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Emily Peterson was born in Sycamore and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Peterson. She grew to mature years here, attending the Sycamore schools, and was graduated from the local high school. She was married to Charles Stroberg of this city, Mr. Stroberg having passed away a number of years ago. They resided here during their first years of married life, then moved to Geneva.

Mrs. Stroberg was very devoted to her home and family and to her church. She was confirmed in the local Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a member there for years.

Left to mourn her passing are two daughters, Mrs. Marjory Hammond of California and Mrs. Lillian Hammond of Omaha; one son, Sedric Stroberg of Geneva; and several grandchildren.
