Notes for Gustav Adolf Holmgren
Goes by Adolph in 1880 census. NOTE: The one who dies in Ishpeming, Michigan is Gustav Alfred Holmgren - not our dino
The Gustav A in Kerkhoven, Swift, Minn is not ours either - birth year is 1865 not 1961 and imm year is 1878 not 1870
Its not the GAH who married Charlotte Josephine Svahn in 1888 as this is Adolph Eumuelius Holmgren
Its not the GAH who married Hedwig Peterson
DeKalb Daily Chronicle mentions him visiting DeKalb from Chicago (11/15/1909) and that he was of Chicago and was entertained by his sister Mrs. Peter Peterson (4/26/1911). The article about working in Ohio (indicates that he had been working in Ohio before returning to DeKalb (8/9/1909)) could be about Adolf W. (Ade) as American Steel and Wire had a plant in Cleveland.
He is not the same Gustav Adolf who died 6/16/1917 in Chicago. That person was 26 years old and had parents Adolph Holmgren and Anna Swanson. And the Adolf Holmgren who married Anna Swanson had a different birthdate from our Gustav Adolph and his death certificate shows parent Andrew Olson.
He is not The GAH of North Dakota
Conclusion: The lack of mention of family members in the 1900’s DeKalb Chronicle articles along with his age at that time (abt 49) leads me to believe that he never married and had no children. Perhaps he died not long after the 1911 article as there is no further mention of him in the DeKalb Chronicle
