Notes for Christina Ekelund
When did she die:

1) no mention of her in husband’s 1899 obituary - implies her death was before 1899 or that she was left out of the obituary

2) Dec 1906 Daily Chronicle article says Mrs. Holmgren of Sycamore Ave is hosting 3 or 4 families at least three of which are clearly Chirstina’s children. Could the Mrs. Holmgren be the wife of a male Holmgren child? Ander’s is alive in 1906 and likely living with his wife in Chicago (1910C and 1920C both put them in Chicago). Hilma is widowed and alive in 1906 and in DeKalb and is known to later be living on Sycamore Ave. But why aren’t her kids mentioned in the article? Because they are all still living with her at home per the 1910 Census. So - it really does look like it is Hilma that is referenced as the host. And there is solid evidence of Hilma living on Sycamore Road in 1908 per Daily Chronicle articles.

3) Must be before 1880 as she is not in the 1880 Census with Adolf and children.

4) Would also have to be after Nov. 1871 the birth of her last child.

5) Is not the Christina Holmgren who dies in Chicago in 1909. Reason for doubt, in 1900 Census in Chicago, Cook, Illinois a Christina Holmgren is listed who is clearly not our Christina. The 1900 Census Christina differs in all of the following: Birth year, Birth Month, Immigration Year, and she states 1 child born, 1 child living. This is clearly not our Christina. But could her death record later in Chicago, Cook, Illinois be mistakenly attached to our Christina? Also, this death record gives address of 1355 W. Erie St. Fannie and Anders Anderson are living at 3415 Vernon Ave in 1910 census just four months later so the Christina-was-living-with-Fanny theory gets no support here.
