Quoting from the Congregational Church records, "June 16, 1793, The Church of Christ in Chesterfield have this day by mutual consent and agreement, excommunicated William Bannister from the fellowship of this church and cast him out into the dark and wicked world. Attest: Benj.Ieirce, Church Clerk".

Memo: Lived in the part of Stafford, New York known as Roanoke.
He served in the Revolution, enlisting in July 1776 as a fifer for the term of four months and marched to Ticonderoga to help fortify the fort against the British. In April 1777 he volunteered for two months and again went to Ticonderoga, but was driven out of the fort by the British. On the second day of retreat he was in the battle at Hubbardstown. Discharged, he went home only to return immediately and was in the battles of Saratoga and Bemis Heights. A full description of his service is in his application for a pension.
